Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has indicated a major overhaul of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration once the civic elections conclude. Speaking in a free-wheeling interaction with FPJ, on the eve of the crucial BMC and municipal body polls, the Chief Minister said resistance within the civic body would be firmly dealt with.
Fadnavis said the move was significant amid perceptions that over the years, individuals sympathetic to a particular political party had been inducted into the BMC administration. He assured that the post-election civic administration would be transparent and corruption-free.
The Chief Minister also dismissed speculation about splitting Mumbai into two municipal corporations. Additionally, he revealed that after the elections, the ongoing drive to identify and deport Rohingyas and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh would be intensified, with the process expected to be completed within the next four months.
