During his meeting with Friedrich Merz, Trump addressed Elon Musk’s departure from Doge, saying “I’m very disappointed in Elon, I’ve helped Elon a lot,” the president added.
The two leaders also discussed the war in Ukraine, with Merz saying that the US “is in a strong position” to end the conflict.
Merz also agreed with Trump that Germany was “looking for measures to bring this war to an end”, and mentioned that tomorrow is the 81st anniversary of D Day.
“That was not a pleasant day for you?” Trump asked.
“This was the liberation of my country from Nazi dictatorship,” Merz replied.
