Could Hurricane Isaias worsen the global oil crisis? | BBC News

Isaias has strengthened to the first hurricane of the Atlantic season this year and will make landfall over the coming days.

It has the potential to bring damaging winds, torrential rain and a storm surge to parts of the US Gulf Coast.

Shell, BP and Chevron have started evacuating workers from their offshore platforms in the Gulf of Mexico. Authorities say a quarter of production in the region is now shut down.
