Buying a used car can save you some money. But how much do you really know about the car you are driving away with? According to Singapore’s consumer watchdog CASE, there has been an increase in complaints related to pre-owned cars or used cars. There were 424 complaints in 2025 and 163 in the first eight months of this year — up 116 over the same period last year. Buyers have complained about repeated breakdowns, dealers not honouring warranties, and misleading claims about the condition of cars. One issue that keeps coming up is mileage tampering. Nadirah Zaidi reports.
