Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has issued strict directions to enforcement agencies to ensure that upcoming elections in several states and Union Territories are conducted in a completely free and fair manner.
Speaking in Delhi, the CEC said that nearly 24 enforcement agencies have been instructed to ensure that elections remain inducement-free and violence-free. District collectors and Superintendents of Police have been directed to act with complete impartiality and strictly enforce the rule of law.
The Election Commission will also deploy observers whose details will be made public. Authorities have been asked to closely monitor fake news on social media and take strict action against misinformation during the election process.
