BRICS is under pressure to turn promises on women’s empowerment into real economic opportunity, from access to finance and investment to cross-border trade.
Lebogang Zulu, National Chairperson of the BRICS Women’s Business Alliance in South Africa, discusses the push to help women-owned businesses scale up, enter international markets and secure a bigger share of economic activity. She outlines the proposed BRICS Women Advancement Fund within the New Development Bank, and plans to create opportunities in mining, agriculture, sport and coffee.
With South Africa looking to turn policy into commercial results, the goal is clear: more women-owned businesses producing, trading and growing across BRICS markets.
