Bengaluru Rains LIVE: Heavy Rainfall Floods India’s Silicon City, IMD Warns Of More Rain | N18G
Torrential rainfall brought heavy flooding and waterlogging to India’s Silicon Valley Bengaluru. At least 3 people have been reported dead in rain and flood-related incidents. Heavy rainfall has crumbled the city infrastructure with widespread waterlogging throwing traffic into disarray. Buses and heavy vehicles were seen wading through flooded streets. Karnataka capital Bengaluru received a staggering 105.5mm rainfall in 24 hours from 8:30 AM on Sunday to Monday, the second-highest rainfall in nearly 15 years. The India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the city for Tuesday, warning of moderate rain. As the city struggles, a political battle erupted between the Congress government and the opposition. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a full city inspection on May 21. The opposition has slammed the government for infrastructure apathy, calling it Congress’ apathy.
