270 Inactive Companies Could Face Delisting? SEBI, Exchanges Plan New Checks

Around 270 inactive companies across two stock exchanges could come under scrutiny as SEBI and stock exchanges reportedly consider a new system to identify listed companies with little or no genuine business activity.

The proposed checks could include market value, profits, net worth, shareholding patterns and unusual stock-price movements. Officials may also visit company offices to verify whether these businesses are actually operating.

The rules are still under discussion and are not final.

So, why is SEBI looking at inactive listed companies?
