Singapore has announced its decision to join 41 parties – including France, Korea and the UK – in backing a treaty to keep the Panama Canal open to all vessels in peace and war. The move came during Panama President José Raúl Mulino’s state visit to Singapore. President Tharman Shanmugaratnam says free and open trade is the lifeblood of both maritime nations, with much scope to deepen collaboration. Claudia Lim with more.
