Five men have been arrested in the UK on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act near RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. British counter-terrorism police said officers responded after three suspicious vehicles were reported travelling toward the air base in the early hours of September 27. The men were initially arrested under the Explosives Act and later detained on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. A 400-metre cordon was established around the vehicles while an Army explosives disposal unit examined them, and around 85 nearby homes were evacuated. RAF Fairford is used by the US military and has been involved in operations linked to the Iran conflict. Authorities say the investigation remains in its early stages.
