A new S$60-million National Institute for Marine and Ocean Sciences (NIMOS) has been launched, with the aim of strengthening marine conservation and management. National Development Minister Chee Hong Tat said NIMOS can help Singapore to make informed decisions backed by science, including on developments such as the proposed Western Island.
