French far-right leader Marine Le Pen says she will run for president in 2027 and appeal a court verdict handed out earlier in the day that upheld her conviction for embezzling EU funds. She was given a three year prison sentence but would only serve one year under house arrest, and pay a 115,000 dollars fine. The court also reduced her ineligibility to 15 months, clearing the way for her to run in next year’s elections.
