In the last one week, Russia and China carried out extensive air drills over the Sea of Japan forcing Japan, South Korea and the US to scramble their fighter jets. The Russia-China drills included the participation of H-6, Tu-95, Tu-142, J-10, J-16, Su-30, Su-35 and AWACS of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force and Russian Air Force. Along with these drills, North Korea launched its Choe Hyon destroyer and warned the US and South Korea against trying to denuclearise North Korea. Meanwhile, the US kicked off large-scale drills involving Japan, Australia, Canada and the Philippines. As part of Valiant Shield, USS George Washington was deployed and B-2 bombers carried out anti-maritime strikes.
