Shiv Sena’s 60th Foundation Day celebrations unfolded against the backdrop of fresh political turmoil, as the rival factions led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray held separate events in Mumbai.
The Shinde faction organised its celebration at the Nesco Centre in Goregaon, while the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction held a rally at Shanmukhananda Hall in Sion.
The anniversary comes amid speculation surrounding “Operation Tiger” after six of Shiv Sena (UBT)’s nine Lok Sabha MPs rebelled against the party leadership, skipped a parliamentary party meeting called by Uddhav Thackeray, and informed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla about their decision to separate from the party’s parliamentary group.
