The Parrot Society says it is a common misconception that such parrots are low maintenance pets. It hopes to increase education and outreach, as the number of welfare-related queries has tripled since it was formed three years ago. A survey shows three in 10 parrot owners ended up keeping one, when a lost bird flew into their homes. Rachel Teng reports.
