Mumbai’s much-awaited Mumbai Metro Line 6 has crossed a major milestone, with over 88% of the work now complete. In a significant breakthrough, a massive steel span has been successfully installed over an active Western Railway corridor near Jogeshwari—one of the most technically challenging sections of the project.
The operation, involving heavy lifting of structures weighing up to 168 tonnes, was carried out within a tight time window and without disrupting train services beyond the permitted block.
Metro Line 6, connecting Lokhandwala to Vikhroli (EEH), is expected to improve east–west connectivity across key areas like Jogeshwari, JVLR, Powai, and IIT, offering much-needed relief to daily commuters stuck in traffic.
While progress on the ground is now clearly visible, commuters continue to wait for clarity on when the line will finally become operational.
