Outgoing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has strongly rejected the Assembly election results, stating that she will not resign or go to Raj Bhavan, asserting that her party did not lose the election but achieved a “moral victory.”
Addressing the media, Banerjee accused the BJP of manipulating the electoral process and alleged interference by the Election Commission. She claimed that the All India Trinamool Congress was defeated “officially” but not in spirit.
Banerjee also made serious allegations of violence during the counting process, claiming that TMC workers were assaulted and that she herself was manhandled, adding that CCTV cameras were switched off at the time.
She further accused the Chief Election Commissioner of bias and alleged irregularities including voter list deletions and EVM-related concerns.
Despite the setback, Banerjee said she will continue to strengthen the INDIA alliance, adding that she is now a “free bird” and will continue working for the people.
The BJP, meanwhile, secured a sweeping majority with 207 seats, marking a major political shift in West Bengal.
