President Trump has warned the US will be withdrawing more troops from Germany.
The Pentagon ordered the initial drawdown of 5,000 on Friday from its largest European base.
Germany’s defence minister says the move will encourage European nations to increase their own security.
Trump threatened the withdrawal after Chancellor Friedrich Merz said the US was being “humiliated” by Iran.
People in the German town of Landstuhl are worried about how the exit of US troops will affect them.
Some fear it will damage the local economy.
