Workers’ Party MP Gerald Giam said he received “numerous” complaints from HDB residents about cigarette smoke drifting into their units when neighbours light up at home. He urged the government to standardise where smoking is prohibited, noting that while smoking near an HDB is illegal, smoking within an HDB flat is allowed. “This highlights a gap in how we protect the air in and around our homes,” he said in parliament on Friday (Mar 6).
In response, Senior Minister of State for Health Koh Poh Koon said the government will study his suggestion. #sgnews #singapore
