Moscow has dismissed claims that it poses a danger to Greenland. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said neither Moscow nor Beijing had ever said they had plans to occupy the territory. She said the crisis showed the inconsistency of the West’s so-called “rules-based” order. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly pushed for control of the Arctic island, which he says is essential for US national security.
