Bangladesh’s election commission has announced the ballot to elect a new government will be held in mid-February. That’s 18 months after the ouster of Sheikh Hasina in a mass uprising led by students. An interim administration has been in charge since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fled to India in August last year. Her party has been banned from taking part in the vote. A national referendum will also be held on political reforms demanded by students.
Al Jazeera’s Tanvir Chowdhury reports from Dhaka.
