Thailand Flood LIVE: At Least 33 Dead, Hospital, Homes Submerged as Heavy Rains Swamp Cities | N18G

The death toll from floods in southern Thailand rose to 33, a senior government official said on Wednesday (November 26). The causes of death included landslides and electrocution. Footage from Thailand Public Broadcasting Service (TPBS) on Tuesday (November 25) showed rescuers assisting children, the elderly and carrying a deceased person amid rainfall, while some vehicles were seen submerged under brown floodwater in Hat Yai, a commercial hub in the country’s south. In Thailand’s hardest-hit city of Hat Yai, a public health official said helicopters would deliver food and ferry out patients after the first floor of the main government hospital treating 600 patients, some 50 in intensive care, was inundated. The disaster also swept through nine provinces in southern Thailand, as well as eight states in neighbouring Malaysia, swamping hundreds of kilometres of land for the second successive year and prompting the evacuation of nearly 45,000 people in both countries.
