US President Donald Trump confirmed Sunday that the Gaza ceasefire remains in effect, despite Israel carrying out deadly strikes on Hamas positions in southern Gaza over alleged truce violations. Israel accused Hamas of targeting its troops in a “blatant violation” of the nine-day-old truce, prompting dozens of retaliatory attacks that killed at least 45 people, according to Gaza’s civil defence agency and four hospitals. Trump, who helped broker the deal, suggested smaller rebel groups, not Hamas leadership, were responsible for breaches. Hamas denied the claims, accusing Israel of fabricating excuses. Israel has also suspended aid entry into Gaza, worsening humanitarian conditions, while vowing to respond firmly to any future violations of the ceasefire.
