The Union Home Ministry has revoked the FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) licence of SECMOL, the NGO founded by climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. The cancellation comes just a day after four people were killed in police firing during violent statehood protests in Leh.

The MHA accused Wangchuk of making “provocative statements” that incited the mob. The government cited financial irregularities, including cash deposits, local contributions routed through the FCRA account, and foreign donations allegedly used for activities against India’s sovereignty.

The cancellation effectively bars SECMOL from receiving foreign contributions. This move comes two months after the CBI began a preliminary probe into alleged FCRA violations.

Will this decision further inflame Ladakh’s protests for statehood and Sixth Schedule protection? Watch the full report.
