Farage will tell the US Congress that Britain has become an “illiberal and authoritarian censorship regime” and suggest that countries that restrict free speech should face diplomatic and trade sanctions.
The Reform UK leader will appear on Wednesday before the House of Representatives judiciary committee to claim that Britain has “lost her way” on civil liberties.
He will highlight the case of Lucy Connolly, who was jailed after calling for people to “set fire” to asylum hotels on the social media platform X. She was released at the end of August after serving less than half of her 31-month prison sentence.
