Solomon Islands Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare said that he found out about the security pact between Australia, the US and the UK through the media.

He said that Pacific island nations should have been consulted given that the agreement would allow nuclear submarines in Pacific waters.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he discussed the AUKUS deal with Mr Sogavre the day after it was signed and suggested that there was a ‘remarkable similarity between the remarks of the Mr Sogavare and ‘that of the Chinese government’
