Pope Francis has warned that the damage humanity is inflicting on the world’s climate now “threatens life itself on Earth”.

He was speaking during a presentation ceremony for a new university course on environmental protection at the Lateran University in Rome.

“It is not enough to repeat statements of principle that make us feel good because, among other things, we are also interested in the environment,” the Pope said.

“The complexity of the ecological crisis, in fact, demands responsibility, concreteness and competence,” he added.
