seoul-based designers hyunseog oh and sangmyung yu of niceworkshop designed a minimal furniture collection named ‘bolt series’ with the aim to focus on the things that people miss and discard without consciousness. fully threaded bolts are usually used as ceiling materials in construction sites and are being discarded indiscreetly, so the designers wanted to explore different possibilities and uses of these bolts.

niceworkshop created a table, a chair, and a bench using stainless steel bolts and focused on their use as flexible materials. the table focuses on spatiality with the intention of controlling the space, which is made of emptiness and performs the role as a service station that shapes the space’s perception. as for the bench, the designers divided the horizontal space works, like the table, to form a sort of interaction between objects and people. the bolts are used differently in each furniture piece depending on the need, but put together they give a unified look and feel.
