The Cold War was long and messy. The United States and the Soviet Union, while never directly confronting one another, fought for influence on many fronts. One of these fronts was culture – in particular using art, music, literature and philosophy as a means of furthering Soviet and American ideologies. In this episode, Sana Saeed explores two of the U.S. government’s most prominent cultural programs of the Cold War: the Congress for Cultural Freedom and the Jazz Ambassadors.
