In US news, Piper Perabo (Film actor and activist) sat down with NowThis News to talk about her recent visit to a Phoenix day shelter set up by non profit the International Rescue Committee to help newly admitted asylum seekers in the U.S. After ICE dropped off these migrants at a Phoenix Greyhound station, the IRC helped get them on their feet with resources. The Trump administration has been hard at work trying to limit the amount of asylum seekers allowed in the U.S. The Department of Homeland Security set up a deal with Mexico that would force asylum seekers to stay south of the border. Piper Perabo is interested in helping the global refugee crisis and telling these crucial asylum stories. For Piper Perabo, protesting injustice is necessary, so much so that she was Piper Perabo arrested while protesting Brett Kavanaugh.
