In ‘Gay Chorus Deep South’, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and the Interfaith Gospel Choir use music to bridge divisions between LGBTQ+ people and communities in states like MS and TN. Director David Charles Rodrigues says he carefully planned the sequence of songs in the documentary. Layered along with the broader themes of peace and unity. The film also unfolds the histories of specific chorus members who are returning to places where they weren’t accepted for who they are. Though the chorus went on a concert tour, Rodrigues says they learned that the best way to be heard is to listen.
