In the latest news from Washington DC and the Capitol, Senate Minority Leader Senator Chuck Schumer has thrown down the gauntlet for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on climate change and global warming. Senator Schumer wants Senator McConnell to make three admissions about climate change: 1) that it’s real, 2) climate change is man made and 3) Congress needs to act on climate change. President Donald Trump has doubts about climate change despite the overwhelming scientific proof. The Republican party has largely been falling in line behind the president’s way of thinking. Recently Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has introduced the Green New Deal, which would be a comprehensive legislative solution to climate change aimed at providing jobs and creating a green future. Many 2020 election candidates have said they like the idea of the Green New Deal.
