In her 20s, Julia Khvasechko started having seizures and was diagnosed with brain cancer. Doctors gave her a 30% chance of survival. During her treatment, she happened to catch the New York City marathon and felt inspired by the runners. After a year of treatment, she defeated cancer and ran her first NYC marathon. Since then she has run over 200 marathons.
