A QUAINT cottage in the heart of Rozelle found a buyer on Saturday, selling under the hammer for $2 million.

The four-bedroom home with no parking at 1 Napoleon St had three people bidding, with a mix of interested parties.

Selling agent Cindy Kennedy of McGrath Balmain said bidding opened at $1.9 million and increased mainly in increments of $10,000. It was snapped up by a young couple from Balmain right on the reserve price.

Over in Burwood, a three-bedroom apartment has sold under hammer for $1.3 million.

The unit at 1305/36-38 Victoria St had five registered bidders on the day and sold well over the reserve.

Romani Iskander and Jason Li of McGrath Inner West Concord were the selling agents, with features of the property including views of the city skyline and Harbour Bridge, a modern kitchen with stone benchtops and walk-in wardrobes to two of the bedrooms.

It also has a secure car space and convenient location.

There was also success in Five Dock, with a family falling in love with one home after three months on the market, paying $2.48 million to secure it.

The four-bedroom house at 19 Great North Rd sold through Melissa Strazzeri and Antonio Ariola of Belle Property Drummoyne, with the vendor choosing to sell in order to upsize to a bigger property.

It last sold just three years prior in September 2015 for $2.21 million.

The house, named Marelle, has a classic brick facade and interiors that have been modernised, including a granite kitchen with butler’s pantry, a gas fireplace and covered terrace with built-in barbecue.

“This was a challenging sale which took slightly longer to identify the right buyer, but we never gave up and found a buyer who fell in love with the high quality construction of the house,” Mr Ariola said.

The property sold well above the median price for a house in Five Dock, which is $1.787 million per CoreLogic data. The suburb has also recorded growth of 21.8 per cent over the past three years.
