UK firefighters witness a rare fire tornado as they tackle a fire at a plastics factory in the village of Woodville, Derbyshire.

Video uploaded to the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Facebook page showed the rare fire tornado, also known as a fire whirl, stretching into the sky from a large plastic-pallets fire.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said in the post that fire tornados were caused by thermal currents of warm air rising from the ground, drawing in fire and ash.

According to UK’s Evening Standard, firefighters from Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Staffordshire arrived at the fire at 1.20am on Tuesday at Ravensbourn Plastics.

It was reported that firefighters had the fire under control about 3:00pm.

No injuries were reported.
