A nightclub promoter’s home has reportedly been repossessed after he tried to use drink vouchers to make mortgage payments.

James Ellis, who has been promoting club nights for almost twenty years, was removed from his house early this morning after failing to make a single payment since moving there in early 2016.

According to sources in the bank, Mr Ellis’s mortgage was in “serious arrears” and the large envelope of drink vouchers they received from the man was not acceptable as a payment.

“We do not, and have never, accepted drink vouchers as payments for any loans, mortgages or overdrafts,” confirmed branch manager Miles Daly. “I’m not sure where Mr Ellis got the idea that they would be suitable for mortgage payments but he was very much wrong, we were left with no choice but to have him evicted and take possession of his house.”

Friends of Mr Ellis claim the promoter tries to pay for everything with drink vouchers and it was only a matter of time before it caught up with him.

“Honestly, he needs to get it into his head that paying for things in drink vouchers just isn’t an option,” claimed one unnamed friend. “He’s a scabby bollox, maybe a bit of a stint on the streets will sort him out, he has plenty of money so maybe once he realises he’ll have to pay for somewhere to stay he’ll realise that drink vouchers aren’t money.”

Mr Ellis is currently believed to be negotiating a nightly rate in his local Hilton hotel, it is believed the night porter will accept an offer of somewhere in the region of fifty drink vouchers to sneak the promoter in the back door and allow him to sleep in the linen room.

As of yet, it is not clear whether the bank has returned the large envelope of drink vouchers to Mr Ellis, although, it does appear like they have settled on a venue for this year’s Christmas party.
