Ricardo Villalobos has reportedly been living his life according to Prince’s mantra “party like it’s 1999” for the last nineteen years.

While it is not yet clear if Villalobos, commonly referred to as Pillalobos, is caught in some sort of drug-induced time-lapse and still believes it is New Year’s Eve 1999 or is simply keeping her lit to the highest order, one thing that is certain is the DJ is certainly enjoying himself.

“Prince’s 1999 has always been one of Ricardo’s favourite tracks,” claimed the DJ’s cab-driving sister Esmeralda Villalobos. “He heard it for the first time when he was about twelve years old and from that moment on, he was preparing for the millennium New Year’s Eve party. That was in 1982, he really devoted his life to it, we all thought he was crazy but here he is, nineteen years later, and still living his dream, maybe it was us who were crazy all along.”

Sources close to Villalobos have confirmed that the DJ is aware of the current date but has chosen to continue partying like it’s 1999, despite almost two decades passing since the turn of the millennium.

“Ricardo’s at his happiest when he’s partying like it’s 1999,” claimed a European ketamine dealer. “I met him back in 2001, he came up to me and said ‘hey mate, happy new year, you got any gear?’. Naturally, I thought he was crazy, because it was September, but I also wanted to sell him some drugs so I gave him a big hug, said ‘happy new year’ back to him and sold him five grams.”

“Every time I met him, it was the same thing ‘happy new year, any gear?’ until, after five years, I eventually asked him why he kept wishing me a happy new year and he explained the whole Prince thing,” the dealer revealed. “I think it’s great, he’s so devoted, I wish there were more people around like him.”

“Obviously the fact that I’ve been supplying his party for a very long time now helps,” admitted the dealer. “But, apart from the fact that he’s paid for my house, cars, watches, holidays and clothes, we’ve really connected and become great friends. I even named my firstborn son Ricky after him, I thought it was only fair as someday he’s going to pay for him to go to university.”
