This 10-year-old cancer survivor is doing more than running an inspiring business — she is changing people’s lives.

“Sometimes I would sit in the hospital for two or three weeks, sitting in a bed with nobody.” Becca Salmins explained. “Doctors would always come in when I didn’t want to see anybody because I wasn’t feeling well at all.”

Becca was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia — a cancer of the blood and bones — when she was 6. After more than 2 years of intense daily chemotherapy, she found the light at the end of the tunnel. With the help of her family, Becca started the bracelet company Knots & Arrows, which she co-founded with her dad, Gerhard, who is also a cancer survivor. Knots & Arrows donates 20% of its profits to childhood cancer — 10% goes to numerous charities, and the other 10% goes to families in need.

“All of our bracelets are handmade in the U.S.A., our bracelets are made out of swimsuit material to remind people to just keep swimming, and to never ever give up.” Becca explained. “We have two quotes: ‘Knots: when you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on.’ and ‘Arrows: When life seems to be dragging you back with difficulties, it just means it’s going to launch you into something great.”
