Santa Fe might be in for some intense weather this weekend—keep an eye out for another potential flash flood watch, everybody!—but the show must go on with the hottest art event of the summer, Art Santa Fe. The international contemporary art fair is celebrating its 17th annual edition, and today through Sunday you’ll find a wide selection of artists and galleries from around the world at the Santa Fe Convention Center.

For those of you wanting to venture further afield, be sure to get out there and explore local gallery and museum exhibitions as well. Head to Charlotte Jackson Fine Art for a group show featuring colorful and Pop-y works by Pard Morrison, Paul Sarkisian, Michael Post, and more. There’s also a terrific Milton Avery survey up at Yares Art through September you won’t want to miss. The exhibition, focusing on the American artist’s early works on paper and late paintings, offers a chance to see the evolution of his trademark style of luminous color and stylized forms. Then, there’s the well-curated “Vasa Vasorum: The Vase in Contemporary Art and Design” at Peters Projects. Far from being a boring show about vases, it presents a variety of decorative art vessels and probes questions about their ubiquity in art. As the press release argues, the vase’s “banality is its power and reach, a source of endless metaphor and conceptual play.”
