12,000 Hidden German Helmets! Secret WWII Treasure Tunnel

On a small island off the north coast of France thousands of German troops surrendered on 9 May 1945. Their equipment was largely sealed up in tunnels dug by the Germans during the occupation, and in many cases left to rot. Among the equipment was upwards of 12,000 German steel helmets, and for the next 40 years explorers searched old German tunnel complexes for them, removing thousands. It is a truly extraordinary story.

Special thanks to Jersey War Tours, a non-profit volunteer organisation, for drone footage and photos. Please visit the following link for more footage and images of the surviving guns: https://www.jerseybunkertours.com/ww2-gun-graveyard

There is one place on the old Atlantic Wall where dozens of large-calibre German artillery guns remain, dumped just after WW2 – it is the ‘artillery graveyard’.
